Citywide Just in Time Workday Learning Plan
Just in Time Learning is the basis of Workday training for City of Baltimore employees. With Just in Time Learning, employees are trained on specific topics within a short time frame, just before the topic-based functions are available in Workday. As a City employee, you may participate in as many of the training delivery methods as you choose.
Just in Time Training Delivery Methods
Self-Guided Learning Self-Guided learning describes the opportunity to access Training Materials and read, learn, study the information without dependency or aid of videos or instructor participation. This training method allows employees the option to learn and prepare on their own. Training Materials are available as job aids, cheat sheets, glossary, and user guides. As defined below, Training Materials are available 24/7 through this website, the City’s Virtual Learning Center, your Agency/Quasi-Agency ARC, Public Information Officer (PIO) and HR Practitioner. The availability of documents follows the same topic release dates of the Just in Time Learning plan.

Self-Paced Learning Self-paced learning allows employees the opportunity to view online videos demonstrating each task within Workday. Short demonstration-based videos have been created and are available in the City’s Virtual Learning center as eLearning courses, which can be accessed 24/7 through a computer, tablet, and/or phone. You can view the videos at your own pace and time. Job Aids will also be available with each eLearning course for easy, written, and illustrated reference. Self-paced learning provides an opportunity for employees to view training videos created as a step-by-step, narrated demonstration of various tasks and processes within the Workday system. These videos are referred to as ‘eLearning’ and are produced in small segments ranging from one – five minutes in length. eLearning courses can be accessed 24/7 through a computer, tablet, and/or phone. eLearning videos are grouped together by topic to create a short eLearning course. Within each eLearning course, the corresponding job aid is available for easy, written, and illustrated reference. Job Aids can be downloaded, saved to your computer and printed, if desired. As a City of Baltimore employee, you will be automatically enrolled to eLearning courses that are on the City’s Virtual Learning Center beginning October 19. If you have questions about your eLearning access, send an email to HR.elearning@baltimorecity.gov. Click here to access the Virtual Learning Center. |

Instructor-Led Webinar Training (ILT) Instructor-Led Training (ILT) is provided through scheduled, monthly webinars. These webinars provide an opportunity for employees to engage with instructors by asking questions and using the chat feature during the training session. This allows thoughts that are captured during the training session to be presented in real time, as the employee is thinking about the subject. Following the webinar, all questions are gathered by the instructor, shared and answered by the City’s Workday project team, and posted on the Workday.BaltimoreCity.gov website under Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), available for 24/7 viewing. ILT Webinar attendance requires pre-session registration for the specific date/time of your choice. Webinars are one hour in length and accessed online through gotowebinar. Each session is also recorded and posted for 24/7 viewing.

Knowledge Coaches (Agency Readiness Coordinators – ARCs) In this capacity, Knowledge coaches will lead the efforts for their agency to become fully prepared and ready to perform basic Workday tasks. Collaborating with agency leaders, supervisors, and team leads, they will create a strong coaching network of colleagues. This combined and collaborative network of coaches will work through all staff meetings, team meetings, and peer-to-peer sessions to make sure team members, colleagues, and peers understand and can perform the required functions in Workday. |
